Getting your vehicle ready for Summer

It is just a few more days until the official start to the Summer season which means its time to get your vehicle ready for the heat! We know that it is difficult for do-it-yourselfers to get vehicle work done in the Winter months so it is especially important to check the following when the weather warms up.
  • Air conditioning - You do not want to be stuck all summer in a hot car that won't cool down, especially if you are planning a road trip! It is best to get your heating and cooling system in your vehicle checked by a certified technician.
  • Cooling system - Some people may think that the air conditioning and cooling system is the same, but it isn't! Before Summer rolls around completely flush and refill your cooling system to make sure overheating does not happen to you.
  • Oil - It is recommended that oil be changed in your vehicle every 3,000 miles.
  • Windshield Wipers - Your wipers on your vehicle take a beating during the winter months if they are frozen to your windshield. Be sure to replace your wipers and make sure there is enough washer fluid!
  • Lights - Have a friend help you check all the lights on your vehicle because sometimes you might not even realize a bulb is out! Don't forget to scrape all of the bugs of the lights for optimal sight at night.
  • Tires - The best time to have your tires rotated is when you are getting your oil changed! It is suggested to have tires rotated about every 5,000 miles. Be sure to check your spare tire since it is something people rarely think about before leaving on a road trip!
  • Brakes - Most people notice when there is something wrong with their brakes right away and if you do get them check out as soon as possible!
  • Battery - The only way to detect issues with your battery is with professional equipment. It is suggested that when you are getting your oil changed and tires rotated, your battery is checked as well.
